The voters will run from anything conservative.

McCain should do quite well then.

Curious, though. If what you're saying about the American electorate is true, then why is every word out of McCain's mouth about how he is a conservative, a real conservative, a true conservative, the only conservative conservative enough to be anointed the legitimate heir of Ronald Reagan?

One thing is certain: either you or he is totally oblivious to the pulse of the electorate.

McCain this fiscal conservative can accept, but adding Huck is too much of an insult.

You think after the past four years, more Americans will vote for a conservative?

That's probably true. The nation has been shifting leftward. Bush has maintained a great economy, in spite of 9/11, and Congress spent a lot of money domestically to save it. The people generally have become comfortable now with the government interventions into what was a business cycle and left to do it's thing.

Now they demand government intercede with tax money. They demand free or cheap healthcare that is provided for them by guess who.......

At some point, and hopefully during the sure to come Democrat admin where they will have total control of both houses and the presidency, the economy will once again teach us just how fickle it can be. The government bond at this point will be high risk and the interest paid will bring the Fed down like a rock. We will be in a deep recession.

This will happen no matter which party sits in the White House because McCain does not have conservative principles to guide him, he will do as he has always done, and take the advice of the people who elected him. Should the Dem's win, we know the Democrats don't have the ability to repair a broken down economy and budget. They are far more likely to run for the hills.

The people then will feel real pain. A pain that has not been felt since Carter, and it could be much worse.

They will once again come to the conservative for the answer to that pain, and all we need to do is work hard on our local and State elections, strengthen our State parties, and by the time we are ready. the country will be ready for us.

McCain is not really a fiscal conservative.

Over the past ten years he has picked various causes that satisfy his need for revenge against certain people on his personal crap list.

He has attacked and defamed mostly Republicans, and a few Dem's for good measure, but all the money he ever saved the government was a drop, not even a small drop in the bucket of spending bills he voted in favor of. He never did anything but act like a blue bellied fly and aggravate Republicans. Some of which were fiscal conservatives. Some were social conservatives.

He lost that election attempt and basically went off the deep end from that point, in his need for vengeance.

He's no fiscal conservative of the kind that understands the economic engines of this country, and he has admitted his ignorance.

The few bucks he saved by skewering that jumbo cargo plane leasing deal was chicken feed and they have had to buy a load of them anyway, because we needed them. So in the end, the government probably spent far more money then they would have had he shut up and did his job. The leasing plan was designed to keep the annual outlays down so that they would not break the budget caps at the time. Leasing is often used as a way to keep cash flow even and controllable.

Since the wars started, all the budget caps went out the window. The entire exercise was a bunch of wasted paper.

McCain uses this event as the proof he is a fiscal conservative. To that I say......Phoooey!
