In the first Super Tuesday result, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee won an upset victory at the West Virginia Republican presidential convention, scoring all 18 of the state's delegates.
Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who had worked hard to organize in the Mountaineer State, came in second.
His campaign cried foul, saying the McCain campaign sent its delegates to Huckabee in order to undermine Romney.
Huckabee and Romney both made appearances at the convention.
Romney campaign manager Beth Myers said in a statement: "[T]his is what Senator McCain's inside Washington ways look like: he cut a backroom deal with the tax-and-spend candidate he thought could best stop Governor Romney's campaign of conservative change.

“From what I read his move up was only because of his family connections.”
When it comes to criticizing our military you should be a little more specific. What is the evidence that the military is a corrupt organization such as you described?
I REFUSE to vote for McCain or Huck. PERIOD!
Let’s see.....
Hunter endorsed Huckabee
Guiliani endorsed McCain
McCain endorsed Huckabee (in W Va)
Who’s the Washington outsider that’s left here?
“Huckabee has fiercely denied that claim.”
Huckabee is a liar, he is giving Christians a bad name. I can’t stand him or McCain. They are both rotten eggs.
I disagree with you, the winner was Mitt, but it was stolen from him by McCain and given to Huck. It’s disgusting.
He is a jerk.
He is on on screwing over US citizens. A despicable loser.
Hillary is gonna be cackling and GOP voters are gonna be crying.
“If Romney had to rely on his leadership instead of his money, Mitt would have never made to this point.’
That’s a stupid remark, it’s Romney’s leadership skills that earned him that money.
Although it may seem slimy, it is not unusual. It has happened a number of times in past primaries, caucuses, and even on the convention floor as in 1976.
I posted Ronald Reagan's famous quote in a previous thread:
"I didnt leave the Democratic Party. It left me."
Ronald Reagan
Oh please.
Reagan himself ran against the incumbent Republican president, Ford, in ‘76.
As well he should have.
I thought it was gonna be Hillary too, but Obama seems to have the big mo right now. I don’t guess it’s wise to count the Clintons out though—they’ve always got something up their sleeve.
We already are crying.
The GOP gave us Larry, Mo, and Curly to choose from, and threw Conservatives like Fred and Hunter to the curb.
Next time, how about if states like New Hampster only allows registered Republicans to vote in the primary?
Is this frickin rocket science?
When I voted for Thompson today in New Jersey, I was only allowed to vote for the Republican candidates and I had to have my party affiliation verified in State and County records before I could step to the booth.
No "Independent" or "Same Day Registration" shenanigans.
Romney will get the last laugh. Even if he doesn’t turn the tide he will be viable in 2012 while Huckabees career is done. Huckabee has created all the footage and soundbites necessary to take him down in the future. The MSM likes him now but they’ll drop him like a hot potato once his usefullness is gone. Romney can’t be dropped because they used all they could against him. That only makes him stronger.
You can take that to the bank. Never underestimate the Clintons.
The whole process is screwed up. Well, guess this is what happens in third world countries. From the looks of things, we best get used to Venezueala type elections.
I live and run a business based on the Southern California coast, I of course know and have met many extremely rich and successful business people, but I can’t say that most of them are better leaders than many of the men and officers I met in the military.
Madonna for instance is extraordinarily rich and successful in her business pursuits, but I am not aware that she is a great leader.
>>>It has to be disappointing for the Romney campaign to spend so much gold for yet another silver, McCain spokesman Brian Rogers told Mike Allen.<<<
I cannot understand why McCain is so jealous of Romney’s money. After all, McCain is rich. Maybe he is jealous that Romney earned his money, while McCain has to marry his.
My wife agrees with you.
Reagan was a gentleman. McCain is a thug.
