It's not just grown-ups who vote today. Thanks to Kids Voting Arizona, they too get to choose their educated picks for the presidency.

My kindergardener called me a few hours into class to ask who daddy voted for and why. I told her Romney, then she had to quickly get off the phone. (Since when do they let five-year-olds tie up the phones?)

When she arrived home, I asked who she voted for in the mock election. "Well, some of the people say that poor people are lazy. I don't want to vote for them because they're mean." Ah, I see her teacher's a Democrat.

I repeated, "so who did you vote for?"

"Well, I didn't vote for Broccoli. He has a funny name."

"Broccoli? Who's Broccoli?"

"Broccoli Bah-ma. He's a funny man."

"Oh, you mean Barack Obama. Well, did you vote for Mitt Romney like Daddy?"

"No. I didn't vote for Mittens Romaley. We can vote on the 'puter right now."

I logged on to the Web site, entered her super-secret code and decided to let the young 'un choose her candidate by photo.

"Okay, here's Hillary Clinton (bad photo), Broccoli Obama (bad photo), John McCain (so-so photo) and this is who Daddy voted for -- Mitt Romney (glamour shot).

"I like her," pointing to Hillary.

"Uhhh, but why do you want to vote for her?"

"She's nice."

"Actually, she's not."

"She's nice. I can tell."

"Okay. Well, if she wasn't running, who do you choose? Daddy chose Romney. Right. Here." ::tapping monitor::

"I like Broccoli."

"You've never said that before. Well, look, you are a Republican, so you only have two choices. him or H-I-M."

"I pick Mittens. I wanna watch Noggin now."

"That's my girl -- you go ahead and watch Noggin! Let me make that selection on the Web site for you. And I'll click 'Vote Now.'"

"When did %#*% Diebold start running Kids Voting?"

****************

That sounds my daughter and her “Jesus Crackers”. I forever couldn’t figure out what Jesus Crackers were and thought maybe it was a snack from Sunday School or something.

Turns out it was Cheese and Crackers she was asking for.

She likes those and Gorilla Cheese Sandwiches.
