I am tired of people saying that Hillary would be a one-term president and we will have a glorious revival of conservativism like happened with Carter followed by Reagan.
The BIG difference is that we had Reagan at that time. He came close in 1976 and was ready in 1980. Who do we have now? The “conservatives” mentioned here, for the most part, cannot even get re-election to their own seats (Santorum, etc.) let alone move the masses.
Conservativism is a hard sell even under the best of times. Without a salesman the caliber of Reagan, it is not going to gain more than a slim victory.

Harsh medicine right there.
Conservatism works because it is the natural state of being for Americans. Right now, rightly or wrongly, President Bush’s unpopularity has damaged Conservatism’s perception among the people.
I seriously doubt that FR would ever become “Pro Hillary” or “Pro Hussein” and the idea that 4 yrs of Hilde would lead to a Reagan emerging is dangerous indeed, 4 yrs of FBI Files, ChiCom fundraisers, Liberal SCOTUS Appointments, and Cut and Run from Iraq and Afghanistan is a very high risk bet.
I also think “we” need new Conservative Paragons, like Coburn or Pence, “we” need some new Cowboys up on the Hill and in DC because our current crop of Country Club Boyz just are not cutting the mustard.

It really just shows how delusional many conservatives are. Reagan was a tremendously gifted politician. Yes politician. He spent literally a few decades preparing for his victory in 1980. It just shows how out of touch (and downright kooky) so many conservatives are that they think the average voter will only vote for a conservative or conservative ideas, if a really bad RAT gets elected. That makes as much sense as saying you'll only like lobster and fillet mignon after eating dog crap.
