Congressman John Linder, the Sponsor of HR25 the Fair Tax in the House of Representatives, has begun a program to get a feel for the actual support of the HR25 the Fair Tax. Here is his message: We need to show that the issue of fundamental tax reform is critical to the economic growth of this nation, and I want to bring a million names to Washington, D.C. to make that point. Please sign on today to show your support for the passage of HR25 to create a simple and fair tax system.
Go to this website: http://www.johnlinder.com/citizen_co_sponsor.asp and add your name as a citizen co-sponsor of the FairTax. Be sure to pass this information along to all of the supporters (including spouses) that you know and remember to tell all new supporters that you bring on board. Gene Key GA Volunteer State Director
Fair Tax ping!
Done.
Petition signed.
Done and dusted
One trick pony, that should declare himself a wholly owned subsidiary of the AFFT in congress.
(We all know how important ‘full disclosure’ is...)
bump!
While I agree in principle that a shift from an income tax to a consumption tax would be good policy, I have a question for all of the fair-taxers:
How, if the ‘Fair Tax’ is adopted, will the federal government keep faith with all of us who took our Roth IRA’s in preference to traditional IRA’s? We were promised our earnings would not be taxed, and I know I, and I suspect everyone else, with a Roth IRA expected to spend those earnings during retirement. If the ‘Fair Tax’ is adopted, suddenly we get taxed on earning that we were promised would not be taxed.
A similar question applies on behalf of low income retirees who expected their Social Security benefits to be untaxed.
I’ve not heard this issue addressed by the advocates of the ‘Fair Tax’, and would like to hear it addressed. (An adequate way of addressing it and similar issues surrounding the shift from the income tax to the ‘Fair Tax’ might make me a supporter.)
Most SS recipients have 1/2 of their SS taxed. The FairTax gets rid of that.
I do believe that some change is necessary in the write up of the bill to address the issue of the individual who saved up after tax dollars all of his life.
There are some true Americans that despise the income tax and want a better, more American system.
it is perfectly fine to dislike the IRS. I think that is actually healthy - just don’t let your animus steer you down the garden path - there are worse things, and the ‘fair tax’ is oen of them.
there are other, better ways, don’t be blinded by IRS hatred.
Petition signed by every member of this household!
The power boys in government are not going to allow the current taxing entity to evaporate....just isn’t going to happen.
With money, comes power. To give up control of this stream of revenue and put it into YOUR hands to control is just a pipe dream.
The IRS is in place to intimidate and to coerce. I support the fair tax....but there ain’t nothin fair by the way the government deals with you.
A) I'm not blinded by hatred of the IRS. I've been at it's mercy for many years now and am hoping to see it's demise before my demise.
B) I was skeptical of the FairTax when I first heard of it. A friend bought me the book. I read it and we discussed it. While no tax system is perfect, the FairTax allows me to choose if I pay taxes or not. The IRS doesn't allow that. That is simply un-American.
The FairTax is a specific plan to abolish the income tax.
Specifically, what are your "other, better ways"?
Done...gladly. This is an idea for which the time is right. With that arrogant, atrocious budget submitted yesterday, people need to get on the bandwagon.
As long as I've got energy to burn, I'm gonna keep spinnin.
but there aint nothin fair by the way the government deals with you.
That's a fact, jack. But, like McCain's amnesty bill, when enough American's stand together, we can deal the cards to the government.
I’m in!
i prefer a flat tax meself.
Where is the counter-petition where we sign an acknowledgement that the “Fair Tax” is deeply flawed and that it should never be implemented without those flaws being addressed?
