With most of the primary elections still to come, the media has anointed John McCain the inevitable Republican candidate. That's understandable -- McCain has been in the pocket of the mainstream media for years. Especially since 2000, he's been the Republican they could always count on -- along with Senators Chuck Hagel (NE) and Dick Lugar (IN) -- to say something negative about President Bush's policies.
But McCain has done more than simply bash President Bush. He's spent years stabbing conservatives in the back, working against Conservative principles in exchange for fawning press from the New York Times -- which has now endorsed him along with Hillary Clinton. I guess the editors couldn't make up their minds. It's alright -- I can't tell the difference between McCain and most Democrats, either. And if he becomes president, he will do so without my vote. I won't vote for McCain, even if the race is between him and Hillary Clinton. To paraphrase an old joke: one of them is an amnesty-granting, rights-limiting, global warming-believing, terrorist-coddling, industry-destroying Democrat. The other is Hillary Clinton.
McCain was part of the Keating Five scandal, which no one now seems to remember. Five senators -- four Democrats and McCain -- tried to use their influence to make Federal Home Loan Bank Board chief Edwin Gray cease his investigation of Charles Keating, who was responsible for the 1989 collapse of the Lincoln Savings and Loan Association. Keating, it turned out, was a huge campaign contributor to all five. It's no coincidence that McCain spent the next ten years conducting a vindictive crusade to "reform" campaign financing by contributors, which resulted in the largest assault on the First Amendment in nearly a hundred years: the McCain-Feingold Act.

There is no difference....that’s why
FReepers don’t like McCain. Never have...never will.
Just say no to McClinton.
He is indeed the Manchurian candidate....the global warming mantra is nauseating....

I’m surprised to see GOPUSA breaking with the GOP lockstep. It caused me to go & look up their mission statement.

Worth repeating. ;)
If Captain Queeg is the nominee, I cant wait for the next fundraising call I get from the GOP. I dont donate to lying liberals, and I will let them know it. Forcefully! I will not support McCain, either financially, or with my vote. McCain is a liberal democrat, so a real democrat might as well win the presidency if GOP voters are fools and allow the MSM to pick their candidate for them.
It sickening. Have you noticed how he inserts it in every debate, whether it's relevant or not. It's like he just can't stop himself from poking conservatives in the eye. He's picking a fight. I guess his strategy is that a fight with conservatives improves his standing in the polls with dema and indys. He forgets that eventually he'll need us again but he'll never get most of us to get behind him. Never. He's going to pay tomorrow. I can't wait.
Yes, I have noticed.
I think Brit Hume was right too...when he talked about conservatives piddling their power away....backing conservatives who could not win....and now we have the most liberal guy in the pack....leading.
Of course, the grassroots move now for Mitt is huge...so perhapps all is not lost.
An excellent title, “The Manchurian Candidate” because McCain’s POW experience is very controversial and may have included brain washing by the Communists. Whatever the truth is about that deal it is well documented that McCain is highly unstable and often uses profanity. I can’t imagine McCain as President...But if he is elected it would be, “The Manchurian Candidate Meets The Caine Mutiny.”
