No wonder I haven’t been getting any alumni mailings. It seems that my alma mater is trying to embrace “diversity” without becoming Catholic in Name Only.
“The University of Scranton is one of a number of Jesuit schools currently working on ways to add resources for its gay and lesbian students,” Network Notes, a newsletter for the University of Maryland at College Park’s Rainbow Terrapin Network reported in 2003! “This fall, in fact, the small northeast Pennsylvania college will debut its ‘Ally’ program, a program intended to train interested members of the campus community to listen and respond to lesbian and gay students.”
“The program is similar to those already in place at other Jesuit schools like Boston College.” Network Notes acknowledged that “Scranton is in the difficult position of providing more services while also remaining true to its Jesuit and Catholic ideals.”
The snarky among us might point out that “da U” is well on its way to accomplishing the former goal. In an official document, the university admitted that its Center for Health Education and Wellness (CHEW) “is also assisting in the development of a Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual (GLB) Ally program composed of trained faculty and staff to serve as allies for GLB students and address issues of homosexuality on campus.”
“The Director of CHEW provides educational programs for students regarding diversity and GLBT issues; CHEW staff members and staff in the Office of Residence Life are members of the National Coalition Building Institute, and collaborate to provide training for campus Resident Assistants using this model.”..

A friend of Mrs WBill is an assistant Dean of Students at a large university. She had a conversation some time ago. She was talking about a organization of Baptist students that she had more-or-less chased off campus (made it too hard for them to meet, so they said "Forget this" and met in an offcampus church instead)... She was very pleased with herself because Baptists were "Weird".
The *VERY* next topic was the LGTBQ center on campus that she was a major sponsor of, and was very proud of.... for those not in the know, LGBTQ is "Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender and Questioning". A Worthy project, she said, Money and Time well spent.
I stopped and called BS on her..."You mean Baptists don't belong on campus because they're "Weird", but people Who Don't Even Know What SEX they are are perfectly normal, and in fact, need their own campus center?"
"Yup." No concept of the dichotomy. Academics are in their own little world.

Add Gonzaga University to the list. The law school refused to recognize an on campus club that was pro-life.
So, if the transgenedered, gay, lesbian lifestyle is to be considered ‘normal’ by the masses in that non-condoning of such is considered a ‘hate crime’, then, why by all means is special funding required for the ‘normal’ part of the student body?

It's obvious the Jesuits have been tipped by a gay seminarians' cabal. If they were really faithful to the magisterium of the Church on homosexuality, there would be no felt need to go out of their way to be nice to them -- as they don't go out of their way, e.g., for abortionists, mass murderers, or cannibals.

I’ve worked in higher education for over 30 years and to say that ‘Academics are in their own little world’ is putting it mild. I have attended meetings where committees are formed to discuss when we will have the next meeting. There are people who actually get paid to think up acronyms to replace the traditional names of departments. Thats how you suddenly get ‘The Office of Campus Life and Leadership or OCLL replacing the more pedestrian sounding ‘Student Activities’ or ‘Human Resources’, HR replacing whatever the hiring department was called before. This LGTBQ stuff is a new way to waste time and money on warm fuzzy programs for students who don’t have enough of either.
The Jesuits maybe, certainly not the Franciscans.
