And who was the target of this covert campaign? Are these operations aimed at the Islamofascists in Iran? How about Vladimir Putin and his increasingly fascist government in Russia? Is the CIA trying to counter Chinese hegemony in the Pacific or clandestinely influence the French to somehow install a pro-American president?

Without moving the page down to read any further -- the first thing that sprang to mind in the first half of that first sentence was The United States of America.

Scary; that most of what Timmerman has detailed here, most of us following through FR have known for some time. Doubt I’d do well at the CIA — my hindsight is great, but my foresight is lousey. That’s why I don’t go to AC or Vegas; no sense letting those thieves take what little the govt. thieves leave me!

Just because a president should not have to confront wholesale mutiny, however, does not absolve Bush from dealing ineffectively with it.

Exactly right - - Bush turned out to be too weak to clean house at State and CIA, just as he is too weak to wrest prosecution of the war in Iraq away from the lawyers. What a shame - - I have zero confidence that anything will change anytime soon, and certainly not with the batch of contenders we have now.

Much of this info among other things have been brought to light from many sources for a long time. It is no surprise. Perhaps some of those that read the book will start to realize how bad off this country is when it comes to preserving the best interests of this country.

Bumping this thread. Just read Rush’s interview with Timmerman in the Limbaugh Letter and came looking on Freeper’s to find a post on the book. Can’t wait to read the book!
