Not exactly... 28 years later we are still dealing with his legacy, IRAN. Iran getting nukes and stirring trouble in Iraq, Lebanon, PLO land, etc., is the biggest foreign plicy issue on the table today.

and we've had five Republican administrations to bring down the ayatollahs without success.
I guess we've failed to win the hearts and minds of the Iranians.
