Most of the people we hung around with lived near the edge also...
Some fell off, some secured their footing.
I voted for Obama in the primary, just because I could... and sticking it to Hilliary.
Gore must be perplexed. With all of the climate change surrounding him, it’s hard to pin down the wind to see which way it’s blowing when he pokes his pudgy little finger out.
Think there are many Dems who will do precisely that. . .cast their vote for McCain.
The Dems are first, far more inclined to observing 'color distinctions' - those qualities they attribute to everyone else; and secondly, many of these same Demrats, hate Hillary.
Think they will find a huge comfort zone in McCain.
“Think there are many Dems who will do precisely that. . .cast their vote for McCain.”
Snowballs in hell.
. . .when hell freezes over. . .
Which of us is the real Conservative?
***Not You. And I’m so sick of Lockstep Republicans like you that I’m changing my tagline:
SURFRINAGWIASS : Shut Up Rinos. Free Republic is not a GOP Website. Its a SOCON Site.
Thanks for the new tagline.
SURFRINAGWIASS : Shut Up Rinos. Free Republic is not a GOP Website. Its a SOCON Site.
Old Tagline: We need to get rid of the Kennedy Wing of the Republican Party. ~Duncan Hunter
FRed and Duncan Hunter. /sarc>
Cheers!
Get over yourself.
Like anything else, one should look at the preponderance of evidence. If the Senator is question were an otherwise decent conservative, and the vote was one of those, “she’s already got enough to be confirmed so I’ll go along in the interest of Senate comity” ones, I’d disregard it.
But McCain is not an otherwise decent conservative, he’s an anti-conservative. His vote for RBG is not an aberration, it’s part of a pattern of behavior, and therefore another nail in his coffin.
Search for George H. W. Bush or just Bush and technology transfer China. To say that it’s okay if the Pentagon approves it is false. Ever worked at the Pentagon and seen the interplay between the civilians there and at the large defense contractors? The incestuous relationship and revolving door means the fox is guarding the henhouse where these things are concerned.
I’m not going to defend the Clintons. What they did was reprehensible on several levels, but to say that in the arena of technology transfer it’s, “Dem bad, Rep good” is a false dichotomy. It is “Pentagon civilian angling for big bucks contractor job when he retires bad, globalist President worse, country scr*wed.”
Which is one of the reason why I reluctantly support Romney. People say he’s rich so he’s not in touch with the common man. I say, the guy knows how to make money on his own and has enough to finance his own campaigns, so he is likely to be less bribable. Too bad our calculations have to come down to not who is the best, but who is potentially less corrupt.
Yep my point exactly who is highjacking the Republican party? Have Conservatives crossed over to the Libertarian agenda?
I ask people to list their conservative values and never get responses..
Maybe because too many people on this thread have created a version of Conservatism where the #1 priority is to hunt down lock up and deport all illegal immigrants simultaneously building a wall across the southern border to keep them out..
and everything else is moot.
You've may have stones but you're apparently lacking brains. Electing Hillary by either directly or indirectly voting for her is NOT conservative.
Unless and until we refuse to vote for the anointed candidate, they will continue to foist this cr@p on us.
Ross Perot=Bill Clinton for 8 years.
I'm saying that when the Pentagon says it's not OK, and the president does it anyway, and is later found to be have taken money from the Chicoms, you have someone who should not be trusted on a prison work-release program much less than with the White House.
I'm not a McCain fan but there is a world -- no a galaxy -- of difference between him (or the Bushes) and the Clintons. We can survive four years of him. I'm not so sure we can survive four years of her. I have no doubt that she'd try to subvert the Constitution a la Hugo Chavez and that she'd have a chance at succeeding.
McCain, for his all flaws, would not.
The Clintons scare the crap out of me. They are disciples of Saul Alinsky. I don't want people like that anywhere near power. I think we dodged a big bullet with Slick.
And I'm not a fan of Romney either but I'm going to vote for him because I am really not a fan of McCain.
“I’m not so sure we can survive four years of her. I have no doubt that she’d try to subvert the Constitution a la Hugo Chavez and that she’d have a chance at succeeding.”
“The Clintons scare the crap out of me.”
Not me. That empty suit and her blowhard husband, who are having a hard time defeating an even emptier suit and Oprah, are not stronger than the United States of America. We survived them once and thrived, and we will do so again.
Whether you or I vote for McCain or not, unless Obama stops her, odds are she’s going to be the next POTUS. The easily frightened among us can hide under their beds for the next four years while the rest of us fight and save this country. That’s what conservatives do.
I will NEVER vote for him, NEVER. If he is our nominee, I will withhold my vote or vote for a third party.
Then be ready for forced social medicine and if you don’t cooperate your wages will be garnished.
“We will fight for universal pre-school to close gaps in cognitive development.”
“We will raise the minimum wage, expand the Earned Income Tax Credit “
“I will double investments in basic and applied research, extend broadband throughout our country,”
“My plan will make college affordable again by more than doubling the Hope tax credit, increasing Pell grants, enacting more sensible loan repayment schedules, returning to direct loans with stable and low interest rates, and allowing those who perform community service or pursue a public interest career, like teaching, to get a break on college costs.”
“As president, I will not hesitate to take swift, bold action to address our immediate challenges, starting with a strong stimulus package and a comprehensive solution to our housing crisis. And I will have a long-term economic plan that creates jobs, strengthens the middle class, and allows everyone to share in our economic growth.”
All in all the Clinton “shared prosperity” plan sounds really expensive, and if you don’t directly vote against it you are in effect voting for it.
Excellent points... but of course some on here have adopted the New Conservative Mantra that our main priority.. The number one Conservative Push issue is
1. Secure the Borders, hunt down capture and deport all Illegal Immigrants, build a wall around America to keep future illegal immigrants out..
Who Highjacked the party?
Exactly, so make sure you vote this Nov., and tell that to all those threatening to stay home.
I believe you are a Republican. However, if the last eight years, and the eight years of 41’s administration has taught us nothing, its that being a Republican and being Conservative are two very different things.
Good companies lose their way and go out of business. The Republican Party is one of those companies. If the left screws it up bad enough, they won’t get another 40 years like they did last time.
Nope, people get the government they deserve. The Republicans deserve what they are getting now. It makes me very sad to say that, and Rush has nothing to do with this. Churchill was the voice crying out in the wilderness too. It was a miracle of timing that he got elected, and not unexpected that he lost after the war was over.
Kids want their cake for breakfast, and they want their cartoons. The boomers are kids. It’s just the way it is. Being an adult is passe’ until somebody’s home town goes up in a nuclear fireball. This is what history has taught us, that prosperity is a killer unless you are willing to pay the price, which is eternal vigilance.
Obama and Hillary want out of Iraq, and want everyone to have ‘free’ healthcare. They are even willing to garnish your wages to do it. McCain’s right there with them, and Romney implemented something similar in Mass.
What do you want conservatives to do? Caving is the easy thing, and I won’t do it. They’ll get McCain, which will get them tweedledee or tweedledum.
This is sick, but weirder things have happened. More likely than a brokered convention, McCain will get the nod, and he will likely get a bonafide conservative to run as his VP to ‘unite the party’.
McCain wins, barring any guaranteed fraudulence with the vote. McCain either dies early, or is assassinated, leaving us with a conservative.
It may sound sick, but fifteen minutes after McCain wins (if he wins) the nomination, the democrats are going to call for him to release his medical records. Of all the ‘pieces of dirt’ the D’s have on him, they will go to the ‘old and infirm’ card first.
I’ll write in Ronald Reagan if it’s McCain, and vote for Republicans down ticket. I’ll vote for the FL Defense of Marriage Amendment. But I will not prostitute everything I believe to vote for a domestic enemy of the Constitution, just because he has a R behind his name. I raised my right hand over twenty years ago and vowed to support and defend the Constitution against ALL enemies, foreign and domestic, and I will uphold my oath. McCain is no less a domestic enemy of the Constitution than Hillary or Obama, and I will not be fearmongered or bullied into violating my deeply held beliefs.
I intend to do every thing I can to keep a closet communist from being commander-in-chief. If that means voting for McCain, I will happily do so.
