You’re missing my point. Huckabee’s son didn’t have a life where God was “apparently” not an integral part of their lives. He was a minister after all. Yet, his son managed to torture a defenseless animal (that’s pretty heinous, too, in fact more so in some ways). It was shoved under the rug...better to not embarrass mom and dad than deal with a serious problem. My point was that parents are God’s agents on earth. Sometimes how much “God” a family has in their lives doesn’t determine the quality of parenting. While we are Christian, I’ve known several families (through activities my sons were involved in) who weren’t religious at all and still had upright, moral kids. Whatever a family’s beliefs parents are directly and daily involved and there are always but always signs before a child gets to the point that they’re stealing from Girls Scouts or hanging dogs.
