I hear ‘ya... If I stood on a corner and sang for 40 years, I’d come up with precisely zero good songs. As far as I can tell they sang for 40 years and only came up with one. Put another way, they are only slightly better than me. Sheesh!... Life isn’t fair.

Man, those guys suck.
Actually, I liked some of their music, but there was too much of the dark side involved for me ever to be a "Deadhead." OTOH, I'm a big Parrot Head.

Jerry was a fantastic guitar and banjo player. He had a distinct tonality on electric that no one could copy, and he was a splendid improviser within the genre he chose.
He had many personal problems, but this is pretty common among musicians with more money than sense.
