Conservatives Fighting Romney
Race42008 ^ | 2/2/2008 | Billy Valentine

In response to Jason’s post of an anti-McCain YouTube video, I offer this video of Romney, made by the same exact organization that produced the McCain video. Also, I take issue with the statement “This Youtube is making it’s way into activists inboxes all across the nation as we speak.” The anti-McCain video has… brace yourself… 139 views, while this anti-Romney video has 4,796 views. Enjoy.

Posting an old endorsement, that is your big cover story for his 75% non republican judges?

He is no leader.

You mean the stalking horse theory was right all along? I really didn't want to believe that. The good thing is not many Fredheads are turning to McCain though.

There is still hope that conservatives will pull their heads out, see this: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1963868/posts

Are you really John McCain in disguise, my friend? Look I wouldn't knock you for supporting your candidate but really talk about a losing argument, asking where Mitt Romney was during the Thomas hearings is pretty lame. Where were you? Were you on TV? Did you work on the committe trying to get Thomas thru the Senate? Most likely not, and neither was Romney since he was a private citizen, not involved in politics. He may have supported Thomas, he may not have, there is no way of knowing. What we do know, contrary to your post is Alito is not the type of judge that McCain would support since he has said that he finds him too conservative.

Oh sure he lied and said he didn't but others heard him say it. Just like he lied in the debate and told Russert he never said he didn't know all that much about the economy but was trying to learn. Unfortunately he was caught on tape on that one too. Oh and he lied about Romney supporting a date for withdrawing the troops, but that's alright he's the straight talker.

Who should we support?

I can’t possibly support McAmnesty under any circumstance.

Huckabee is a total disaster.

Tell me, who should we support?

Look at the link in #71 — it fits you to a “T.” I’ll trust those who have worked hard and fought tirelessly in the pro-life movement for years, like Jim Bopp and Dr. Willke, not others who have their own selfish political fortunes at stake.

Mitt’s schtick is getting old. It is not selling in spite of the efforts of his minions and the millions he has pumped into it.. He will be out of the race by Wednesday IMHO.

I hate to give Huck credit, but he came up with a good line. Mitt did not reach political puberty as a conservative until he was 60 years old. LOL

Your candidate of choice, conservative Congressman Duncan Hunter endorsed Huckabee for POTUS. Conservative Congressman Tom Tancredo endorsed Romney for POTUS. Conservative Senator Tom Coburn endorsed Mccain for POTUS.

If Fred Thompson endorses John McCain for POTUS, BFD! You people are hypocrites. Until he dropped out, Fred had the most serious support of any candidate running on Free Republic and he remains THE favorite of most FReepers.

Romney chose to run in Mass. where he continued their recent history of electing republican governors when they gave Mitt one term.

He is no leader.

Forgive me, if I defer to them, rather than you.
You know, Prissy, I didn't ask you to "defer" to me. I just stated my opinion and included why that was my opinion.
I followed the link you posted, and those two endorsements are a pitiful pro-life showing. But, then, I momentarily forgot that you are a dyed-in-the-wool Mitt supporter from way back, so he's perfect, no matter what.

I like what Alan Keyes said about Willard the Myth.

"Mitt Romney IS Giuliani. He's just lying about it.

Exactly. I knew it! I knew you knew better than the guy who wrote the Human Life Amendment and the father of the Pro-life movement. You never fail to impress.

In case you don't click #71 --- here it is again --- bears repeating:

________________

Your arrogance is stunning. Who are you to judge? Who are you to see into a man's heart, especially a man you don't even know and have never met?

The audacity of your claim is truly flooring given how much you really don't know.

Pro-life leaders who DO know him and HAVE met him TRUST HIM.

For heaven's sake, THE MAN WHO WROTE THE HUMAN LIFE AMENDMENT FOR THE GOP PLATFORM, Jim Bopp, has endorsed Mitt. He has met him, spoken to him and worked beside him. Do you think Jim Bopp isn't serious about furthering the pro-life cause? Do you think you are more perspicacious in your assessments or more dedicated in your commitment to the cause than Bopp, who has dedicated his whole life to it?

How about Dr. Wilke, credited as being the father of the ENTIRE pro-life movement? He has endorsed Mitt too. Do you know better than him as well? He has also spent time with Mitt, thoroughly researched his record and platform and finds him sincere and trustworthy as well.

_______________________

Governor Romney has received the important endorsement of James Bopp, Jr., a nationally-known constitutional lawyer and leading advocate for the pro-life movement. James Bopp reviewed Romney's record as Governor and questioned him personally before giving Romney his endorsement. Bopp later joined the Romney Presidential campaign as a special adviser on life issues, an unpaid position. (James Bopp Jr., "The Best Choice Is Also a Good Choice - Why social conservatives should support Mitt Romney for president," National Review Online, 2/21/2007)

Dr. John Willke, a Founder of the Pro-Life Movement Nationally and Internationally, Served for 10 Years as President of The National Right To Life Committee and Helped Found the Organization Endorseed Mitt Romney: "Unlike other candidates who only speak to the importance of confronting the major social issues of the day, Governor Romney has a record of action in defending life. Every decision he made as Governor was on the side of life. I know he will be the strong pro-life President we need in the White House. Governor Romney is the only candidate who can lead our pro-life and pro-family conservative movement to victory in 2008."

________________________

I might not be as smart as you are, but I am smart enough to know when to defer to credible people who have met Mitt, who have assessed his credbility and sincerity, and who are much more informed on an issue than I am. Your arrogance is stunning.

“Look I wouldn’t knock you for supporting your candidate but really talk about a losing argument, asking where Mitt Romney was during the Thomas hearings is pretty lame.”
“Most likely not, and neither was Romney since he was a private citizen, not involved in politics. He may have supported Thomas, he may not have, there is no way of knowing.” THOMAS HEARINGS OCTOBER 1991

“Willard Mitt Romney donated $250 in 1992 to then-U.S. Rep. Dick Swett’s (D New Hampshire) successful re-election campaign. The one-term congressman served another term before losing to Republican Charles Bass in 1994. Two years later, Swett ran unsuccessfully against Republican Bob Smith for one of the Granite State’s U.S. Senate seats.

In 1992, the former Massachusetts governor and current Republican presidential contender also donated $250 to Rep. John J. La Falce (D New York) and $1,000 to Douglas Delano Anderson, an unsuccessful Democratic primary candidate for the U.S. Senate seat held by Utah Republican Jake Garn, who retired that year.

So, between July 1989 and October 1993, Romney exclusively financed these three Democrats.”

“I really thinking about sitting this one out.”

Even if McCain turned out to be a total disaster domestically, which is highly unlikely, Hillary or Obama would create problems in foreign policy that would take generations to overcome. We are still suffering from Jimmy Carter’s overthrow of the Shah in Iran thirty years ago. Truman and Acheson lost China in the 1940s, and wee suffer from that 60 years later. Whatever McCain tries to do that is not conservative can be opposed just as effectively as the Immigration Bill was, or it can be corrected after he leaves office (Look at the mess Carter made of the economy, and Reagan corrected it within 4 years)

In foreign affairs, you cannot easily block a President (or, in the case of Hillary or Obama, make them act). The consequences can be really catastrophic and very longlasting. Our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan deserve better than to be turned over to Commander in chief Hillary or Obama.

He is no leader.

Romney has far more leadership experience than McCain could ever dream of having. And Romney ran for office in Massachusetts because he had lived there for almost two decades.

btw, are you a fan of Romney's predecessor, Gov. Swift?

“Fox news is reporting that Fred Thompson will endorse McCain after Tuesday! I guess it was to be expected.”

I certainly expected it. Fred will now undoubtedly be trashed again by Coulter and her ilk. He is a true patriot who loves his country. Even if he disagrees with McCain on some issues, he knows that McCain is the best of the remaining candidates on national security, without which we can all forget about every other issue.

I am not running for President. I have no idea how old you are, but I was working of Reagan thirty years ago when everyone I knew was for Ford. I know a conservative when I see one and Romney ain’t one. If you can’t see that, neither are you.

One of the few things that McCain has going for him, is that he has leadership in abundance, his first career was based on combat leadership, his surviving this race is being done on his own internal ability to lead and win, no matter how much it may irritate many of us.

Romney was entertaining running in Utah instead of Mass., that is why he was portraying himself as NOT pro-choice in Utah.
