Conservative, conservative, conservative. That was the word Mike Huckabee used again and again with reporters to emphasize his credibility as a contender for the Republican nomination...
“There has been somewhat of - almost a national media spin that this race is a two-man race,” said Huckabee... “Last night, the CNN debate was very frustrating for me. There seemed to be an unequal level of time that was allocated, and if people look at the delegate count, one has to have 1,191 delegates in order to be the nominee. So far, no one has even broken a hundred; there’s only 8% of the delegates that have yet been tabulated ..."
Continuing, Huckabee questioned Romney’s quest to claim the conservative mantle: “If people are looking for a true conservative, somebody who hasn’t had a recent change of opinion to become one, I would be the logical choice ..."
Although he would have “loved” to have Arnold Schwarzenegger’s endorsement, Huckabee seemed to undermine it by challenging the California governor’s conservative credentials, and implicitly, McCain’s.
“I would never have expected the governor of California to endorse me and, frankly, I’m probably a lot more conservative on a lot more issues than he would have been comfortable with – whether it’s the Second Amendment, or pro-life issue, or marriage amendment issue or any number of things.”
Huckabee later said that receiving former Republican candidate Duncan Hunter’s endorsement last week probably meant more in the conservative hotbed of San Diego than Schwarzenegger’s endorsement of McCain.

The New York Times also leveled the biggest smear of the campaign cycle by suggesting Governor Huckabee wanted his rhetorical question about Mormon doctrine—specifically the doctrine that Jesus and Satan are brothers—on the public record.

I've heard the talking points. You can try thinking on your own. Are you going to start accusing me of promoting Huckabee to help McCain? Or maybe I'm an Identity voter? Or a populist?

Duncan Hunter is very pro-military and probably opposes Mitt Romney’s goal of removing restrictions on homosexuals and lesbians in the military.
Romney’s anti-gun position probably bothers Duncan as well.
John Edwards had the common decency and sense of fair play to make a distinguished exit. Huckabee is making a fool out of himself and hurting the conservative movement. His rear kissing of McCain hoping for crumbs is disgusting. A real man would bow out gracefully and let the two front-runners battle it out. (Ron Paul should do the same.) They don’t have to endorse; just get the heck out of the way.
A vote for Huckabee is a vote for McCain. I stuck up for Huckabee when FReepers started bashing him way back when . . . but now, this is a whole new ballgame. Get out of the way, already. If we get stuck with McCain - and eventually Hillary Clinton - it will be Huckabee’s fault - just like Ross Perot - that’s how we got Bill Clinton. Same scenario. Good grief already.

It doesn’t sound like Romney’s against guns. This is from the Wikipedia sight:

I'm sorry to hear about your poor financial situation. I don't think that taking your angry out on Huckabee will help with anything. Since you've already demonstrated that you're very gullible and that truth is irrelevant to you, this site should be right up your alley.
The good news is that we avoided the worst of all possible outcomes by defeating Rudy.
Anything else we can survive.
