I had a flu shot so am I safe?
No. You get it anyway. You may get a milder form though. My wife did.
Not completely. One of my co-workers who got a shot has the flu now.
Probably against the strains that they made it from, but I don't believe any vaccine protects 100% of those vaccinated.
We had the flu shots a couple of months ago, didn’t stop me from coming down hard with this strain in SoCA. It lasts reportedly about 10 days. I first felt symptoms Sat afternoon, slept for the next two days, awaking about every 30 min to 2 hrs to drink a glass of water and urinate. Would only remain awake about 7 minutes before repeating the cycle. Monday, I could stay awake maybe 30 minutes, then asleep again.
No nausea so far. Constipation for first few days even with heavy hydration.
Primarily a sinus drainage type head cold, with a very violent dry cough. Extreme dizziness, and hot/cold flashes.
I can remain awake long enough now to read the news, watch half a movie, then sleep again. No desire to eat, but plenty of fluids have been taken. Simple RobitussinDM is sufficient.
Body aches, fever, headaches, clear breathing, but sinus drainage, and extreme drowsiness all seem the primary symptoms.
One interesting note about this flu. It appears to touch upon the nervous system. Both my wife and myself have difficulty sleeping, although exhausted, because of pain in our lower backs. No change in position or muscle relaxant seems to altar that perception.
2nd day of coughing and the entire body and ribs are sensitive and aching from coughing, probably just the muscles involved in that coughing are now inflaming.
Family doctor indicates the similar symptoms are being displayed valley wide and make about a 10 day course.
We’re both fairly healthy, immunized, and don’t recall any likely point of exposure, so I don’t know when we were first exposed to it, although my spouse appears to be 36 hours behind me in symptoms.
