Bill will be "dead on arrival", but the message about where this country is going becomes more and more clear. Nice image of the text of the bill available at the link.

Now I don’t care who you are....that’s funny.

Was this introduced as a form of sarcasm, or was the sponsor serious???

That's the mentality of the modern American politician. Everything not banned is mandatory.

The United States Constitution was written to be an instrument which limited the power of government.

Pass the Charmin.

The exit polling data from the 2004 presidential race revealed that people want the social conservatism, but unfortunately they also want big government socialism.

The economic conservative is a dying breed. Leaves me feeling quite lonely.

And this is why I will no longer give the GOP a blank check in the voting booth. It is appalling that these types of bills are often pushed by republicans. No more political relativism.

You.

Did it ever occur to these Rino's that you can order food from the internet for delivery?

Walking to a restaurant is often the only exercise some of these people get

This sounds like something that could only come from the mind of Mike Huckabee, he is just smart enough not to just hang it all out there at once like that.

So basically, they are proposing that patrons step on scales and then figure their BMI before they can enter an eating establishment? Either that or the government figured BMI would have to be on their ID (driver’s license).... Either option is insane.

Has anyone considered the possibility that these gentlemen were being purposefully ironic?

Of COURSE such a ridiculous Bill will not get passed, as should NOT such ridiculous laws as anti-smoking bills, seat belt laws, helmet laws, gun storage laws, etc. They ALL interfere with individual liberty.

It’s only a matter of whose ox is getting gored (or pig, in this case).

Isn’t it at least POSSIBLE that they are trying to make a point about government run amok?

Mississippi legislators this week introduced a bill that would make it illegal for state-licensed restaurants to serve obese patrons.

Makes sense to me. Bars can't serve an intoxicated patron so why should a restaurant serve someone that's obviously stuffed ;-)

Wait until socialized medicine gets here. Then the Government will have a financial stake in keeping you fit and trim...

I can easily envision a day where laws like this are the norm with the overweight being treated with the same contempt as smokers are today. Imagine the embarrassment if you went to restaurant with a group of friends and being weighed before you can order, then being told you were a couple pounds over your government mandated target weight therefore you could only order the salad and water. Then you realize that you don't have time for dinner at all because you haven't completed you mandatory 5 hours of exercise for the week so you have to go the government sponsored gym to clock in for your remaining hour to prevent being slapped with the unhealthy lifestyle tax.

Ive been to Mississippi. If they ban fats they will exile a significant portion of their population who are over 50% fat by volume.

Yeah, no surprise - it’s Mississippi - quite a few liberals (including those who introduced this bill). Those types will nanny state us to death.
