But he didn’t accept when offered, and he went on to give a great 2004 convention speech and helped Bush alot on the trail.

I would too if I wanted the nomination in 08. McCain knew he was gonna run again.

The fact that Kerry—a man who’s spent more time with McCain than anybody here—considered him as a running mate, that’s all I need to know.

First off, according to Kerry himself, McCain approached him. I guess he was promised something not to take the offer because we wanted to be Pres.

Second, he was looking to leave the GOP in 2001 to throw control of the Senate to the Dems, but Jeffords beat him to it.

Your guy is no hero but a USER and he is not conservative or Republican.

he went on to give a great 2004 convention speech and helped Bush alot on the trail.

And at that same convention McCain told a reporter that he thought John Kerry would make a good president.

As long as you believe it, that's all that matters.

Which just further demonstrates that his positions are politically motivated. All about him. He reminds of high school debate clubs where the kids don’t really give a darn about the issues, but are just trying to improve their debate skills. Except with McCain, it’s about just trying to carefully craft his positions in a way that will benefit his political career.

Very calculating, that McCain. He was already looking ahead to comments like yours.

He was not “offered”.
