You mean if I say "huckleberry", then the substance of the comment is necessarily bad? What if he really is an ignorant hick, and the fastest way to express that belief is through using the fortunate juxtaposition of his name and a famous cartoon character?

Derision is time-honored, and expresses an emotion or thought, and names can communicate an opinion sometimes. Taken too far, as when the word "Nazi" is used to deride anyone who is on the other side of an issue, it harms the argument being made. Sometimes, however, a person called a Nazi verges on fascism--Hillary for example. To call her Hitlery would not be appropriate on a Fox panel, but here, it might show acceptance of her as an agent for "liberal fascism" and would not necessarily mean that the poster is stupid. Maybe the language police are.
