As bad as McCain is. . .Hillary is worse. Her long-term vision/agenda cannot possibly be outmatched by that of McCain’s.
I can’t believe this thread is this long. I don’t like either of them. I want my family and friends protected. Hillary is a toss up with McCain in that category. They are very similar cretins sliming their way to same point.
“As bad as McCain is. . .Hillary is worse. Her long-term vision/agenda cannot possibly be outmatched by that of McCains.”
What the “vote Hillary instead” crowd (and I believe it’s peaking now to give people a wake-up call that their Super Tueday vote has consequences more than an actual endorsement of Hillary) is point out is - yes, of course Hillary will be worse in a general sense. But she’s a democrat - we can BLAME her. What will we do if it’s a Republican president responsible?
It’s a bit of a moot point - I believe Hillary or Obama would both be able to crush McCain in a debate. If McCain is the nominee we’re screwed - the dems will win. But on the off-chance he could win, the damage he would inflict on the conservative agenda is only slightly less severe than what Giuliani would have inflicted. At least, under a democrat presidency, we could rally ourselves in opposition like we did under Clinton. An enemy in the White House gave us a voice - made us powerful - brought OUR objectives back to the forefront. Clinton acted on OUR ideas, the Contract with America, NOT the other way around.
Sometimes, from a strategic point of view, a loss can lead to a greater victory elsewhere. You can see that in how candidates on both sides are choosing to run their primary battles.
That said - I believe this “I will vote for Hillary” business is a ruse to get people to vote against McCain on Tuesday. If it fails, and McCain does win, then there will have to be some soulsearching as to what actually comes next.
