Columbus Municipal Court Clerk Vivian Creighton Bishop was hit with a barrage of angry words outside the local Hillary Clinton campaign headquarters Monday, and words weren't all that were thrown at her, she said.
Bishop co-chairs the Georgia Women for Hillary Steering Committee. Clinton is seeking the Democratic nomination for president against Illinois Sen. Barack Obama.
She said about 2 p.m. Monday, she went to the building at 804 Veterans Parkway to pick up a friend before driving to the airport for a flight to Washington, where she was to see the president's State of the Union address. As she walked into the building, a man at a vacant house next door started hollering.
"I couldn't make out what he was saying, so I wasn't sure he was talking to me or to someone else who may have been in the yard," Bishop said. But when she came back out, there was no doubt.
"He said, 'You heard what I said. You should be ashamed of yourself for supporting that white woman, you stupid something.' He started calling me names," she said of the man, who was black. "And I said, 'Pardon me,' and he said, 'You heard what I said, supporting that white woman.' "
Then he threw a mop at her, she said. "It got stuck in the hedges."

But the man persisted. “He came after the car with these big hedge cutters,” Bishop said. “So I was able to speed off. And he was yelling, ‘You have no business supporting that white woman! You stupid woman!’ And he was just yelling and cursing.”
Vivian Creighton Bishop, wife of Rep. Sanford Bishop, D-Georgia.
Is there any verification that this actually happened and is not just made up?
It happened, this is an actual news story.
Bishop gave the name of a suspect in the incident. A police report showed a 24-year-old man by that name was arrested for disorderly conduct Monday in an incident reported at 2 p.m., but it listed the victim as the “City of Columbus” and did not say Bishop witnessed or reported what happened. The report said only that two officers “arrived at 700 Veterans Parkway in reference to a disorderly person,” and “case remains under investigation.”
Police department administrators could not be reached Wednesday to answer questions about that report.
I know I shouldn’t laugh, but it is just funny hearing Hillary called a “stupid” anything.
I smell a set up.
With Hillary getting the NAG/NOW vote and
Obama getting the black vote, the democrats
should compromise and draft Sheila Jackson Lee.:)
Vivian Sanford’s husband must be for Obama, it could be a set up.
Sen. Barack Obama on Monday named Reps. Sanford Bishop and Hank Johnson as the Georgia co-chairmen of his presidential campaign.
The two Democrats will play a largely ceremonial role for the campaign, helping to rally support and draw contributions.
Bishop, from Columbus, said Obama is the candidate for change.

Varying political alliances don’t affect personal relationships
Rep. Bishop backs Obama; wife and friend Smyre both in Clinton’s camp
BY CHUCK WILLIAMS - chwilliams@ledger-enquirer.com —
When Rep. Sanford Bishop looks for support of his choice in the Democratic presidential primary, he won’t find it from two of the people closest to him.
Bishop is the Georgia co-chairman for Illinois Sen. Barack Obama. The congressman’s longtime friend and political ally, state Rep. Calvin Smyre, is active in Hillary Clinton’s campaign. Bishop’s wife, Municipal Court Clerk Vivian Creighton Bishop, is also working for Clinton.
Awkward situation? Bishop said not at all it’s just politics.

For many it is a whole lot more than just politics.
Probably from Phenix City
ha..
I’m gonna vote for Hillary now. Hahahaha
“I know I shouldnt laugh, but it is just funny hearing Hillary called a stupid anything.”
Not that it really matters, but as I interpret this, the man is referring to Vivian Bishop as stupid. He refers to Hillary only as ‘that white woman’.
