Slate.com Editor-in-Chief's Diagnosis: Bush Has a Learning Disability
Veteran Washington journalist and Slate.com Editor-in-Chief Jacob Weisberg has a theory about the awkward nature some say President George W. Bush exhibits in his public speeches Bush has a learning disability. Weisberg linked it back to a pattern of dyslexia in the Bush family.
I agree with that, Weisberg said when presented the possibility that Bush has a learning disability.

From watching him, I dont think he has a learning problem but a hearing one. Thats why his speech is sometimes weird when it comes to properly saying certain words. My wife's first language is Spanish. She also has a hearing deficit. She has never heard English until after her hearing problem developed. Her English is grammatically correct and much better than mine. However, there are some words she says wrong because she never heard the words correctly.
President Bush was a qualified fighter pilot. To do this you must be able to process information instantly, and mentally picture the battle field in the air in three dimensions at 600 knots or more. An individual with a learning disability can not do this.
I think it is as you said, a hearing problem and he obviously does not like public speaking and does it poorly. When you hear his off the cuff conversations with his staff and other politicians he sounds perfectly normal.

What horse crap. My wife and I watched fascinated at the small talk captured by the live feed following the President as he left the chamber after the SOTU speech. He was so articulate, witty and charming. We wished out loud he would do that at his press conferences. He must be So self-conscious that any misstep will be pounced on by the drive-by media.

Speaking of dyslexia. . .
Did you hear about the dyslexic, agnostic, insomniac?
He would stay awake all night wondering if there really is a dog.

I’ve got dyslexia and lead a perfectly normal life. Having to double check an address or phone number is no big deal and happens to most people as they age anyway. Like I said, it’s a perfectly normal life. Work, play, go to church and say my prayers to Dog.

Thats what I have always thought. President Bush is just very self-conscious in front of the cameras. He sort of freezes up and cannot articulate as well as he does without the cameras.
