It has always been my belief that slowing the world economy down enough to reach the rapid carbon emission cuts demanded would actually increase those emissions (just not officially).

I think the masses of unemployed people will turn to burning tires and other trash once the fire wood is gone. They will all end up living in huts while all of their former homes sit empty because they couldn't pay their property taxes.
