The Muslims are in Dearborn, next to Detroit, and arguably saved it from Detroit’s fate. So, no, not a coincidence.

The Arabs in Dearborn account for virtually none of the violent crime. I'd feel a lot safer walking through their neighborhoods at night than many others in greater Detroit.
