Can anyone tell me how there is a bit of difference between McCain and Romney? They are both "Moderates". The both have flip flopped on numerous issues. Neither is a Conservative.

Why the gushing support for one over the other?

I don't understand it at all.

Oh, and those who keep touting a "media conspiwacy" and who are lumping FNC in with the "eevvvillll Liberal networks". If the final vote total comes out in favor of McCain, will you apologize for your tin foil hat comments?

The fact of the matter is that unofficial vote totals from the SOS website are ALWAYS behind network numbers. There is no conspiracy.

Watch when the final totals are in. You'll see. You might not like it, but denying reality won't change it.

Dems do that, Republicans don't.

McCain is pro-amnesty for illegals. Romney is against it. McCain opposed tax cuts. Romney supported them. Romney believes that the President should be able to appoint his own judges. McCain opposes that. Romney has executive experience. McCain does not. And finally, Romney has a vast knowledge of economics and wealth creation. McCain admittedly does not.

And now for the biggest one of all - McCain is the choice of Democrats. Need I say more?

What ticks off conservatives is that McCain has made a career of stabbing his fellow conservatives in the back at crucial moments:

Last week he called on Romney to "apologize to the troops" because he was slightly less enthusiastic about the Surge last spring (though he DID support the Surge). But you will NEVER EVER EVER hear McCain saying Murtha or Kerry or Kennedy should apologize to the troops. McCain often votes GOP, but he's always sucking up to the Dems while dissing his own party. That's why the liberal press so adores him.

Issues are important when selecting a President, but they are not the most important thing. As has been noted elsewhere, temperament is far more important (or more to the point, sufficiently bad temperament needs to be regarded as an absolute disqualifier).

Given a choice between a candidate who was 100% liberal but a good temperament, and one who had McCain's temperament but was otherwise 100% conservative, I could not in good conscience vote for the latter. While a World War IV may be inevitable in our lifetimes, I would not trust McCain's judgment of when to join it.
