Looks like the photographer asked them to stand on the down range side of the bench for better light and background.

Likely as not. I get a full on case of the heebie-jeebies walking in front of a muzzle, regardless of condition or status.

Same here. When I show a weapon to a customer I clear the action, locking the slide back or the cylinder open.

I had one gentleman repeat the same procedure after I handed him the weapon and he .....apologized for re-checking the weapon.

I told him I would have been more insulted if he had NOT checked the weapon himself.

I wound up selling him quite a few firearms that day, the XD he was looking at, a really nice Browning engraved BAR in 30-06, and an older Win '97 riot gun.
