Here's a few....the first I am very familiar with and there have been a couple from our County PD that I have seen. Granted while some have been with remanufactured or reloaded ammo, the two I know of for sure in this state were with new factory loaded PMC ammo. It has changed the view of the State and County PD's to look at the Smith(NMSPD) or Sig(BCSD) as replacements.

Setback with .40 will destroy those guns also. .40SW is a high pressure round with little tolerance for setback, as compared to .45ACP or 9x19.

A steel gun may absorb the damage a little better, but it will still be rendered catastrophically inop.
