Wow. Absolutely disgusting. I pray for their future victims. Does this qualify for breaking news?
The more people learn about Spitzer and his policies, the more he needs these convicts to vote for him for the next term. There won’t be anybody else wanting him still in Albany.
There is a lawsuit where a group of inmates (largely murderers) are alleging that the prior Administration (Pataki) had an unwritten policy of denying parole for murders in all or essentially all cases, without regard to the other factors the law requires Parole Boards to consider (behavior in prison, mitigating factors in the crime, etc). You saw a steep drop in parole release rates for these inmates under Pataki (compared to the previous Governor, and to the current Governor). I don't know. In addition, there have been recent changes to the law eliminating parole for cop-killers (mandating life sentences, without parole, for people who kill cops after a certain date). But the Constitution(s) say you can't retroactively increase a sentence, (no ex post facto laws), so you if the old laws say you need to consider murder's for parole, and these are the factors you need to consider, then you need to apply those rules). So, who's low and who's high? I don't know.
Not for those of us who knew putting that clymer in office would be a disaster.
you’re right, you don’t know
Maybe Spitzer was easy on them, but he’s been hell on the white collar guys he can extort money from or whose backs he climbed upon on his way to fame as AG.
