Welker wasn't worth a "good deal" at the time. He was small time and wanted out of Miami, the Patriots got him at a bargain. Moss was also a relative bargain because of his history.
But thanks for making my point. It's also proof-positive (be it Welker, Moss or Brady for that matter) that the 1st round draft choice penalty for cheating leveled against the Pats was a joke.
..He is the only player in NFL history to ever have converted a field goal, converted an extra point, and fielded a punt and kick off return all in the same game. He and T.J. Houshmandzadeh shared league leader honors for receptions during the 2007 season.
Welker holds several all-time records for the Patriots and Dolphins franchises. He is the Dolphins' all-time kick off return leader, both in total returns and yardage, and their all-time leader in total punt returns (he is second in yardage).
You said his agent was shopping him around. Then you go on to say he wasn't a "good deal". So, a second rate player is courted by one of the best teams in the league. When was Welker traded and when did the scandal come out about filming the Jets? Wasn't Welker traded before all that came out? If so how could he have sold his soul? If it was after then you may have a point.
