Fox News' Special Report noted that "in recent days, Thompson's aides promoted him as a vice presidential pick." Romney was the first to weigh in." Asked if Thompson would be on his "shortlist," Romney answered, "Anybody who ran for office in this field is a very strong individual and should be considered as a VP nominee for me or somebody else. He is a terrific and highly capable guy."

There are not too many to the left of him so that should make it easy.

Mitt was asked if he would consider Fred. What do we expect him to answer? “Naah, he’s too old” ? IMO, his answer is a standard polite answer that doesn’t commit to anything nor put down anybody.

“Romney Says He Would Consider Thompson As VP Pick”
“Unabashed political philandering..”

Oh how dare he say a kind word about Thompson! (sarc)

Romney caters to conservatives, while McCain ... with his lieberman cross endorsement, talking about how civil he could be in a race with Hillary, panders to liberals and moderates.

BTW, WATCH THIS TO FIND OUT SOMETHING ABOUT VP SLOTS ...

Romney Says He Would Consider Thompson As VP Pick

Thompson did even hardly try to run for President, why would he want to be Vice President?

“what do we have to do to win”

That is the mindset that has created the problem in the first place.

When winning usurps true conviction then what is achieved by winning?

I read somewhere on FR that Fred really wanted the VP position.

This reads to me as simply more shameless pandering.

As for me, I don’t care who’s on the bottom of the ticket if I believe the top of the ticket is unacceptable. Romney is unacceptable for me. So, Romney/Thompson wouldn’t hold any weight, even if I believed Romney was serious (and I don’t).

When it comes to conviction, the Republican party is more concerned about winning rather than doing what is best for the country.

If they were concerned about winning they wouldn't have nominated Cheney. As much as I admire the man he was a very poor VP pick when it comes to grooming a successor.

Yes I do. It would be very smart of him, but not so smart for Fred.

It’s unabashed editorializing in an article title. Romney said Thompson was good enough after being asked by a reporter. Maybe the reporter should have asked him about issues instead, rather than their usual pony show?

Me too. Go Mitt.

I also heard that Kristol on Fox said Thompson was endorsing Romney...and CNN had a crawl saying the same thing.
