I had attended a presentation about this last month.
1.Only 5% of the original 1869 material was destroyed.
2.Most of the blaze you see is actually scaffolding and decking material that was installed in the 1940s when it was put on display.
3.Wood including old teak from a recently demolished bank in India was recovered and brought to England for fitting.
4. At the time, it was estimated that L15million would be needed.
