I’m a mile from the plant. I came home early from work and took a nap. I guess I slept through it all. I’m in and out of the plant several times a week.

Thanks for the link.

With no responsible adults stepping up to claim responsibility for the emission, there are only a few other possibilities. Hopefully we’re beyond the TMI syndrome of blowing sunshine up the local’s skirts.

It could be an as-yet undiscovered rail car leak, it could be local jihadis, it could be Krychek and the man who smokes cigarettes... but it is very real to those in Charleston.

Sometimes I think breaking news stories’ links should attribute ‘... and the usual gang of idiots.’

***Now the news continues to be confusing, and it is now stated that the cloud is from the giant coal burning John Amos power plant***

Don’t worry! AEP purchases, and encourages, it’s employees to purchase carbon ofsets!

The news is indeed confusing. First reports indicate a chlorine smell...now no mention of it.

The bridge indicates a river nearby. Thus, it’s probably pollutant emissions from either moonshine, or coal mine, movin’ on down the line...

We take these things pretty seriously. Ever hear of Methylisocyanate (MIC) that killed a few thousand Indians a few years ago? It's here.

... and if you’ve got plants creating insecticides, you’ve got chlorinated phenols a la Bhopal (no, they’re really safe, well, until they’re released into the atmosphere).

Charleston west virginia. It just appeared this afternoon about 1 pm and no one knows where it came from.

It caused watering eyes in some people.

I saw it myself this afternoon for a little while and I suddenly got spooked and got out of town.

Thanks Roccus. That’s making a bit more sense now. We get the air hanging around in the winter here. Maybe it kept the coal power plant emmisions much nearer to the ground than usual. Blue haze makes sense too, but the chlorene smell is curious...

A chlorine leak you don’t really smell anything.
I lived across the street from a chlorine plant and they had a leak one day. blew the siren and everyone had to stay in and close windows and vents etc. The bad thing is, you can’t see it or smell it, but you feel it if you breathe it.
