A strong smell of chlorine and a heavy haze has been reported in Charleston and South Charleston.

According to a release from Kanawha County Metro 911, industrial sources of hazardous material are required to notify Metro 911 when they have a release of such product.

As of 4 p.m., county emergency officials have not received any notification, the release said.

Emergency officials do not know the source of the smell, what the product is or its origin.

The public is being advised that if you are in any form of distress, stay inside and do hesitate to call 911.
