The story mentions two Latin phrases. The first, AD MAJOREM DEI GLORIUM, means "For the greater glory of God."

LOL!

Even the best can occasionally get "little details" wrong. Not that I will think anything less of ACC as a result, but the last word in that latin phrase is Gloriam. Having "lived" with Jesuits more years than I care to admit, there is no doubt about that in my universe.

I'm embarrassed to say that I missed that. I've seen the correct spelling, too, during 4 years of Catholic high school and undergrad studies at Loyola University.

As Clarke's work goes, this short story is quite a gem. I was glad to find it online.
