Obviously 9/11 had no effect whatsoever on any of those stats.
Can someone point me to the $431B surplus in 2001?
I believe most of that was due to the Clintoon’s emaciating our Intellegence and armed services agencies. He fired a lot of deep cover agents and scaled back our defense capibilities under the guise of the “peace dividend” (end of communism by Reagan). This created a surplus where there really shouldn’t have been one. In my mind, it was a “false” surplus because that money would have gone to where it was supposed to had the Clintoon not screwed with it.
