NEW YORK (AP) -- Wall Street sought to extend its gains Thursday, a day after stocks staged an extraordinary reversal and after weekly figures on workers seeking unemployment benefits suggested the job market is holding up.
Investors will try as the trading day unfolds to determine whether the market's late-day comeback Wednesday was in part due to technical reasons or whether it represented any shift in sentiment.

Sooner or later investors are going to wake up to the “sky is falling” scenario is a bunch of crap. If the Fed. lowers it’s rates again next week, watch for a lot of refinancing that is going to pump lots of money into the economy around April. I have a 5.75% note, and if I can get a point or more lower, I will jump on it.
