In the fifties I saw a black and white feature film on Dien Bien Phu. Very compelling.

In the seventies I saw a Communist propaganda short, a recreation depicting Viet Minh pulling on fat ropes to pull guns up the backside slopes, forty men on four ropes lead by teams with machetes clearing the growth.

There is an evil working through the deeds of Fonda, Kerry, McCain where Vietnam is concerned, something dark which continues to tinge any McCain candidacy.

“Bob Smith amassed a list of POWs...”

And McCain fought him every step of the way in his attempt to send our people over there looking for them. My take on why McCain did that? Don’t go looking for other prisoners who might have known you back when. Could be detrimental to your political career. Plus, he’s nuts.

BTW - Bob Smith is a fine man. He endorsed Duncan Hunter.

The French garrison at Dien Bien Phu was different from the GCMA. The GCMA were like our Special Forces, fighting a counter insurgency war against the Viet Minh, most were French Foreign Legionaries.

The French at Dien Bien Phu were foolish to establish a base in a valley without securing the surrounding hills as a perimeter. Frog folly.....and hubris.

Don't know who the McCainiacs are here on the boards and most of what I have to say about him they'd find offensive. McCain's father was CINCLANT and Johnny wants to out do him. Just being a senator doesn't cut it. McCain joined Kerry and others for the celebrity and walked over the graves of the POWs and MIAs.
