Bush was thought to be weak on national security as well when he was first running. As far as gitmo goes it has become more of a political slogan than anything else these days. The courts have ruled that the same rules apply to it as to anywhere else so there isn’t a lot of reason other than pride to keep it open as opposed to relocating detainees to other less public locations.

Sorry but it is rather naive to believe relocating detainees to other locations will make a difference. It wont-just create a new slogan. For the Dems anything short placing these prisoners on US soil and into the US Justice system is an "injustice" Wake up!

Bush never said anything implying he would have a weak approach with national security. Huck did and he also pardoned many people. The charge sticks.

Bush was soft enough. I don’t want someone softer on crime and terror.
