We keep saying that, but we don't vote that way. We had Thompson and Hunter in the race, and the simple fact is they didn't get the votes. I have no idea why anyone would vote for McCain, but they did.

Most of us on FR are political junkies, and we know a lot more about the candidates than the average voter. Proof of that is that Huckabee and Thompson ended up competing for the same voters. These guys have very different positions, but both have a folksy southern charm. A lot of voters vote personality.

Most people voted for Reagan for his personality, not his positions. We got a great man with the personality, but he didn't win because of his policies or positions. He won because he connected with people.

You get what you deserve.

No one shoved anything down your throat. The candidates ran the gamut from "wacko" (Ron Paul) to "conservative" (Duncan Hunter) to "moderate" (McCain) to "liberal." (Giuliani)

The fact that the candidate field is in its current situation is a direct result of the voting base of the Republican Party. You don't like it? You should have gotten out of your chair and done some campaigning.

For what it's worth, Romney is the best candidate left.

The Rockefeller wing of the GOP is not conservative. There is an internal struggle.

There was a power struggle in the Democrat Party too. The 1960s riotous radicals won. They are to blame for the RINO former Democrats who still vote as Democats who are in our party. They were too cowardly to take back their own party from the hardcore socialists who openly sought to create unrest.

That's because Republicans have shown that they will vote for the lesser of two evils to keep a Democrat out of office. I can certainly understand that type of thinking, but the result is that traditional Republican issues are becoming watered down.
