More Louisiana news:
Today’s caucuses elected delegates to the Feb. 16 state convention. The various Presidential candidates put together slates of delegates for each caucus, but they are still unpledged delegates. These delegates attend the state convention and congressional caucuses at the state convention. The state convention will choose delegates to the national convention. (There is a Feb. 9 primary straw poll, but it is not-binding unless a candidate gets 50%, an unlikely event.)
Unless one of the campaigns knows ahead of time that they elected a majority of delegates statewide and are ready to announce it, there will be no announcement of national delegate allocation until the Feb. 16 state convention.
