Martin Luther is supposed to have said: “It is better to be ruled by a wise Turk than an incompetent Christian”.
The point is that a candidate’s religion shouldn’t matter EXCEPT as to how it shapes his conduct and values. (For contrast, see the entry under John Fraud Kerry). Romney’s already answered more questions about it than any candidate should have to, and I’m surprised that anybody on the Republican side would be threatened by this issue. Huckabee poses a MUCH greater threat to our Constitutional Republic than does a “Morman”.
