Climate Security Act (NWF plea to stop globull warming)
National Wildlife Federation ^ | 1-22-08 | NWF

Posted on 01/22/2008 3:49:26 PM PST by visualops

Dear Friend of Wildlife,

"It's the most important wildlife conservation legislation in history," said John Kostyack, NWF's wildlife policy expert.

"Really?" Could this new global warming bill--the Climate Security Act--truly be as big as the Endangered Species Act...or the Clean Water Act...or the Clean Air Act?

If so, how?

"Well" said John, "Global warming has the potential to wipe out all of the conservation victories of the last century."

Endangered wildlife on the road to recovery could face new challenges as global warming alters their habitat and way of life. Waters that we once fought to protect could dry up from extreme drought. In all, up to one-third of all species could disappear by 2050 if global warming continues unchecked.

But, you can help change the forecast for wildlife! http://online.nwf.org/changetheforecast

The National Wildlife Federation is working to pass an important new global warming bill in Congress called the Lieberman-Warner Climate Security Act.

This legislation not only reduces the global warming pollution that is impacting wildlife habitat across the country, it also puts billions of dollars to work to help wildlife survive a changing climate.

Help protect wildlife for future generations by sending a message to your senators!

Your voice is essential to make our campaign to pass the Climate Security Act a success. Make sure both of your senators sign on to this bill and vote for its passage.

Thanks so much!

Unfortunately , despite the fact that the NWF does do some good work, they are also global warming alarmists.

So this is really a heads up to us to stay on the ball and not let the envirowhackos get this bill thru.

This is the prewritten letter the NWF would have everyone send their congresscritter:

I am writing to urge you to cosponsor and vote for the Climate Security Act (S. 2191), introduced by Sen. Joe Lieberman (D-Conn.) and Sen. John Warner (R-Va.).

This is a very important bill that requires large emitters such as power plants and oil refineries to collectively cut their greenhouse gas emissions every year, starting in 2012, at a pace scientists say is needed to avoid catastrophic climate changes. It sets the pace to reduce global warming pollution by about 2 percent per year, cutting emissions from major emitters 15 percent below current levels by the year 2020, and 70 percent below current levels by 2050.

The revenue generated from an auction of pollution permits issued under this "cap and trade" system will be significant.

I am very pleased that a portion of these dollars will be used to help wildlife survive global warming. It is essential that these funds be used to carry out scientific research, acquire and manage habitats and take many additional steps to help wildlife survive the impacts of a changing climate.

Global warming poses an unprecedented threat to wildlife. It is already contributing to sea level rise, intensified storms and droughts, increased catastrophic fires, spreading pests and invasive species and a host of other ecosystem disruptions.

To prevent extinction of numerous treasured species and loss of many unique habitats, conservation work must be expanded to address such climate-related impacts. Investing in conservation is one of the most significant steps we can take to protect wildlife for our children's future.

What affects wildlife ultimately affects people, so the time is now to develop the best strategies to protect the landscapes and habitats they--and we--depend on.

Global warming is one of the biggest challenges both people and wildlife will face in the next century. The Lieberman-Warner Climate Security Act is an important new approach to combating global warming that works for our economy and our environment.

Please cosponsor and vote for S. 2191.

I just realized- money isn't the root of all evil- the WEATHER is! Sheesh

I should post a disclaimer as I get these nonsense emails because my backyard is a certified backyard wildlife habitat.
I believe that the Backyard Habitat program is very beneficial and fun but there’s a big difference between being nature-friendly and thinking that global warming is a man-made disaster that will bring about the ruin of the earth.
Anyway I searched and saw there was only one article posted about this bill, back in November.

LOL I had to go look that up.
It’s really sad that the envirowhackos have taken what should be fun and educational for kids(learning about and enjoying nature) and turned it into this we’re-all-gonna-die alarmist propaganda.

Good job. As normal they don’t bother to tell you what it really means to the average American. How much more well our electric bill be? How much more will our gas be? Where is the real science behind 1/3 of the species well be wiped out? Is this the same trash where they say man is causing extintion of 50,000 species a year? You know a scinitist ask for the list of species, ahhh sorry will about the top 100 ahhh sorry well how about the top 10 ahh sorry well how about name just 1 ahh sorry! Because it was base on a computer model and not in facts.
If the gang green are for it you can bet your last dollar it is bad for Americans.

I recall when I was much younger there was alot of hue and cry about the rainforest disappearing. Well, if what they said was true, it would all be gone.
Come to find out they couldn’t even read a satellite image lol

The NWF puts me in a turmoil always.

See I am very active in this organization in a program, maybe y’all heard of it, called the Backyard Wildlife Habitat Program. In fact, I have been extensively trained by the NWF and am a certified Backyard Wildlife Habitat Steward.

Which means I can train people how to create Backyard Wildlife Habitats. And I do, going to the gardens of those who call for such help, advising them on how to create an effective Backyard Habitat.

I am an avid believer in the concept of Backyard Habitats. Which is the concept that through little effort a homeowner can create a lovely and thriving environment that invites the beautiful birds and butterflies to come into the human yards and live right here, right alongside of us!

It’s a concept that doesn’t make humans the villains. It’s a concept that encourages kids to learn about the beautiful creatures that share out planet. It’s a wonderful concept that I am so in love with....I mean, HUMANS have a right to live on this planet too!

Anyway, it’s the NWF which promotes this concept and yeah, I plant native plants, provide cover, water, food and nesting places for the critters. I love the beautiful backyard critters that live in my little eco-system right along with me and I feel I am a much better person for it.

But the NWF is so full of liberals that I walk a soft line and can’t stand some of the stuff that organization gets involved with.

Yet I’m so devoted to the NWF’s Backyard Wildlife Habitat Program as I think it’s a Conservative’s form of being a good denizen of the planet.

I don’t want to quit this organization but I’ve thought about it plenty of times.

Still, just wanted to put in my two cents....

impacting wildlife habitat

I had impacted wisdom teeth once.

Just because the writer doesn't remember the difference between 'effect' and 'affect' isn't reason enough to use a noun as a verb.

Global warming alarmism = biggest, most shameless coup attempt in history.

I used their template to create an alternative letter. Feel free to copy and paste and then mail it to your senator.

Thanks for the template. This is the letter I will be sending to my senator.

I am writing to urge you to vote against the Climate Security Act (S. 2191), introduced by Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) and Sen. John Warner (R-Va.).

This is bill is another attempt to destroy our economy by placing unnecessary burdens on legal businesses, such as power plants and oil refineries to collectively cut emissions falsely claimed to warm the Earth every year, starting in 2012, at a pace that junk scientists say is needed to avoid imaginary climate changes. It sets the pace to reduce this imaginary global warming pollution by about 2 percent per year, cutting emissions falsely claimed to warm the Earth from legal power producers 15 percent below current levels by the year 2020, and 70 percent below current levels by 2050.

The revenue stolen from legal businesses from an auction of fraudulent "pollution permits" issued under this "cap and trade" system will be another astounding example of the true nature of the "global warming" cultists, which is to redistribute wealth from those who achieve through hard work, to those who do not.

I am very distressed that a portion of these dollars will be used to pay the salaries of animal rights extremists under the false pretense of helping wildlife survive this alleged global warming. It is their plan that these stolen funds be used to carry out more fraudulent and unscientific "research," and take many additional steps to help further the myth that mankind is responsible for a changing climate.

Global warming is the most unprecedented fraud ever committed against mankind. The alarmists claim it is already contributing to sea level rise, intensified storms and droughts, increased catastrophic fires, spreading pests and invasive species and a host of other ecosystem disruptions, though no scientific evidence exists outside of that manipulated and falsified by the global warming cultists.

Despite claims to the contrary, polar bears are thriving today, with many thousands more alive than have existed in the recent past. Participating in this fraud is one of the most shameless acts of lying and dishonesty ever committed by human beings.

Global warming is, has always been, and will always be a myth, the real purpose of which is to steal from productive societies and people and transfer wealth to unproductive societies and people. The Lieberman-Warner Climate Security Act is bad for America and bad for the economy.

Please defeat S. 2191.

I impacted my mother’s garden this past fall; tripped over the damned garden hose and took out half of an asparagus patch. Scared the cat (Khat) too.

As someone with a certified Backyard Habitat, I can understand how you feel.
It is a disappointment that the NWF wastes alot of time and resources on junk science issues like global warming.

As I said before, it’s not about science, it’s about the (tax) money!

I wonder how S.2191 will get around the DATA QUAILTY ACT and the Supreme Court ruling which said that the EPA can regulate any emissions based on sound science. That leaves the GHG models out in the cold.
