Yeah, Ol’ Gatemouth. I got some of his tunes on Alligator Records. I figured no one around here would know of him.
Sadly he passed away a few years ago of cancer (as I understand it he refused to go for treatment). But he could play the blues, jump blues, jazz, cajun, country, and Texas swing; guitar and fiddle.
I got to see him a number of times in his final decade.
I saw Gatemouth Brown open for Eric Clapton about 15 years ago. Great fiddle & guitar playing — really stole the show from Clapton.
