Fredheads, It's Time to Support Mitt
The Jawa Report ^ | January 22, 2008 05:18 PM | Dr. Rusty Shackleford

Posted on 01/22/2008 3:22:24 PM PST by Checkers

Dear fellow Fredheads,

It's time to support Mitt Romney. Can Mitt win in a general election? I don't know. Certainly he has always had a better chance than Fred. And if the opposition is Hillary Clinton, then maybe.

McCain can beat Hillary. But McCain is, well, McCain.

To be honest, I'm not as down on McCain as most of my fellow Jawas and you, the readers. But that's just because I've been a one-issue guy since right around, oh, let me see, I think the date was 9/11/2001.

But still, McCain doesn't get that the border is tied in with our national security.

Mitt does. And he seems to get the war on political Islam.

Sure, Rudy also seems to get both, but it's probably too little too late for him.

I'm hearing some oddball theory that a lot of Fredheads are natural Huckabee supporters. That's insane. Like, certifiably insane.

It's built on the presumption that the evangelical supporters of Thompson are in the same boat as the evangelical supporters of Huckabee. I got news for Tom Edsell: they aint the same animal. Sure, they may have the same funny accent, and so I'm guessing that to an outsider like Edsell the presumption is that they must be the same species. But they're not.

Which is why, for me and many other Conservatives, the focus is on taking back Congress. The White House is lost, no matter who wins. Our only hope is preventing damage being done by getting a majority back that can stop any further excursion into the sewer.

Every single person, young or old, is just one slip away from an expensive hospital bill, and one bug away from a long-term illness. Cancer attacks everybody, there’s bacterial infections everywhere.

Plans can be found that are priced relative to the risks associated with young people. I think any real fix for health care is going to have to make such pricing MORE flexible, rather than less, even though that will drive up the cost for older people.

If I were to push my own mandate for insurance, and I’m not sure I would choose that myself, I would mandate only catastrophic care insurance, and let people deal with the 5-10thousand dollar problems by having a state-run (if necessary) loan board to borrow from if you get sick and can’t afford the care up to your catastrophic limit.

When your definition of freedom is using Federal power to force people to do things, then you will get nowhere. Socialism is not freedom.

Of McCain, Rudy and Romney, only one believes the illegals have to leave: Romney.

*** blush **** (I thought I was answering Checkers.) I like your screen name. Used to enjoy those movies. They were corny, but fun.

I tolerate homosexuals. I also tolerate Jehovahs Witnesses. I don’t want to have anything to do with either of them, but I tolerate them. What choice do I have?

There’s a difference, though, between tolerance and acceptance. I don’t have to ACCEPT sodomites and their vile filth, and I don’t. I guess nowadays leftists call that “homophobic.” For about five thousand years, though, there was another word to describe this attitude:

“Normal.”

Your so-called facts are all wrong! Way to go, use fiction to make your point.

“You neglect to mention that there is a third option. A person shows up at the ER, they are NOT a deadbeat if they PAY THE BILL! I have never known a hospital to not require that.”

My understanding of the Massachusett’s plan is that if you show up in the ER without insurance, you will be treated, but you will have to buy insurance on the spot.

I’m sure someone will correct me if I got that wrong.

Now that Fred’s out, my only choice can be Romney. I’m in. Let the healing begin.

Let the healing begin? The "healing" can't begin until after he stabs you in the back.

Cordially,

Your write-in means Hilery wins.

I wasn't aware Hillary was running in the February 5th Illinois Republican primary. Huh. Could'a fooled me.

I’m in a agreement with the poster. It really is Mitt or bust. I spoke earlier about the possibility of having this happen (Fred bowing out) and that we will need a second choice to rally behind...

I think as conservative Americans, we need to do all in our power to keep the socialists out of the big chair. At this point, a sacrifice needs to be made. If you make the choice to sit at home rather than choose a candidate that is not as qualified as Thompson but better than the others....well, that’s just going to open the door for the Clintoons to move back in.

Time to get behind Romney. Let’s do this thing

“I think he should only answer your question AFTER you’ve identified the clause in the U.S. Constitution that authorized Congress to mandate health insurance.”

Since we’re talking about the Massachusett Health Care plan, I would start with the Tenth Amendment.

Mitt Romney is a fine good family man. Your silly attempts to discredit a good man stink to High Heaven.
