Oh my...That is all ya got isn't it? Someone told you this was a horrible thing and you nod, but can't articulate why can you?

“Charging tuition is not a service.”
Charging in-state tuition is a service. If your tuition is being subsidized by the taxpayers it is just as much a service as taxpayer subsidized health care.
To: LordBridey
Actually I get speechless when I see that kind of stupidity...
I think a person saying that they are a “Conservative” advocating spending ANY money on illegal immigrants, other than the money need for enforcement is...
Well, I put “conservative” in parenthesis for a reason...
Why stop there, lets educate the planet...
Damn, just damn....

Now the voting citizens of our nation are "sheeple."How very elitist of you.Yeah, me and Rush.

If your tuition is being subsidized by the taxpayers it is just as much a service as taxpayer subsidized health care.Thank you. So he should have asked for out of state tuition fees? Or is all tuition subsidized?
To: LordBridey
When did going to college become a right?
To: ejonesie22; keepitreal
I think a person saying that they are a Conservative advocating spending ANY money on illegal immigrants, other than the money need for enforcement is...I didn't see it as spending money on illegals. I saw it as allowing them to spend their own money to go to college. Now I see where y'all are coming from. I wasn't thinking that tuition was subsidized. Oh do I feel stupid. So, they should just have to pay the unsubsidized tuition? Correct? That is the conservative position?
To: LordBridey
If they want to go to college, sure they should pay out-of-state tuition. But, they should also leave the country and apply for a student visa, just like other non-legal-resident students must do.
To: LordBridey
Charging in state tuition to illegal aliens is a service. It is a discount that American citizens cannot get...duh.
As for the rest, yes he should have arrested the offending employers, arrested the parents, and sent them packing back to their own country.
Higher education is not a right. It is not even a right of American citizens, not an entitlement, not provided for in the Constitution, and certainly not the right of law-breaking criminals.

Sorry Rush doesn’t support Huckabee. In fact Huckabee and McCaine are the only two Republicans he has directly opposed.

And Mormons also eat children and burn goat placentas on altars made of human bones. What utter crap!
Everything I wrote was true, so deal with it. If you don't believe me, read the Documentary History of the Church, the Mormons' official church history. Read the teachings of the founders, their website, their hymns, and so on. It's all there.
Aliens: Brigham Young taught that aliens lived on the sun, while Joseph Smith taught that they lived on the moon (and dressed like Quakers).
Indians: I'm amazed that you've never run into them struggling to try and defend their "Bible"'s claims that the indians are really descended from Israelites (called "Lamanites").
Jesus and Satan as brothers: Read it for yourself from their "church" website.
God has a wife: Google "heavenly mother". Here's a mention of her in a
Mormon Hymn for you (plenty more where that came from).
Anyone can become a God: Again read it yourself from their website (section: "Our Heavenly Father Presented a Plan for Us to Become like Him".
Oh, and Joseph Smith killed two men in a shootout (History of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7:108). Again, it's all in their own books.
Mormonism is a cult with beliefs as crazy as those of any cult you've seen in the news in the past decade.

Just to be clear. The conservative position, concerning in state tuition, as Huckabee proposed it, and the cause for great indignation is that illegals would be receiving the benefits, a reduction in the actual cost, that the American taxpayer purchases, and that is essentially another form of welfare to people who shouldn't even be here, and because they are not contributing to the system. Have I got it?
And is that the actual difference between out of state and in state tuitons? Because the out of stater didn't contribute in the state he is attending school, he pays the actual cost of his education?

In as much as I have an issue with them even being in our public high schools and such, since many pay some taxes, I see it as being just like eveyone else, the government does k-12.
Not even citzens are guaranteed College.

The sad and frustrating part for me is that I've worked in the media for 30 years, I have a close relative who worked very high up in the RNC in DC and goes all the way back to being a Reagan delegate in '76, and I know a lot of these people personally. Party insiders have been telling me for months that Huckabee was really the most conservative candidate who actually had a chance of winning because of his communications skills and appeal to working class voters (who used to be called Reagan Democrats), but he was going to be destroyed by the big money GOP establishment for the same reason they tried to destroy Reagan to give us Ford: because they would rather remain in control of a shrunken, out-of-power party than allow anyone to rise to power in it who wasn't part of their Harvard-Yale-Wall Street cabal. And all you people fell in line, piled on Huckabee and helped them. Congratulations for slitting your own throats. It would seem so.

So no reply about what specific about Madison you find applicable to Huckabee?
No surprise. On a different thread unspun quoted Carl Marx and said it was Lincoln or Jefferson.

I guess he thinks it is WE who are stinking up the joint by our stupidity in not unabashedly supporting Huckabee, while he decries the declining standards of conservatism here on Free Republic. Meanwhile he uses the names of great American thinkers and patriots as buzz words while ascribing the words of Marx to them.
This is about par for the course as far as Huckabee supporters; I have found.
Madison’s words that I find applicable to Huckabee.....
An alliance or coalition between Government and religion cannot be too carefully guarded against......Every new and successful example therefore of a PERFECT SEPARATION between ecclesiastical and civil matters is of importance........religion and government will exist in greater purity, without (rather) than with the aid of government. [James Madison in a letter to Livingston, 1822, from Leonard W. Levy- The Establishment Clause, Religion and the First Amendment,pg 124]
Ecclesiastical establishments tend to great ignorance and corruption, all of which facilitate the execution of mischievous projects. [James Madison, letter to William Bradford, Jr., Jauary 1774]

So just being a Christian is your deciding factor?
Excuse me, my good man, but if I'm not mistaken, Benito Mussolini was a practicing Catholic almost until the day he was suspended from his heels at that Fina station in Milan. As were Jim Bakker and his thieving corruption and Jimmy Swaggart caught twice in cheap motel rooms with working girls.
I suggest you view a marvelous old Oscar-winner named
"Elmer Gantry". Huckleberry Hound has a lot in common with the title character. Too bad he also lacks Burt Lancaster's talent and charisma.

One more little comment. If your late father founded the Republican Party in your Texas county, you must be over a century old, since the Republican Party of Texas dates back to Reconstruction. Maybe a small exaggeration on your part?
