The folks in NASA must not think there is anything to it or they would have one of those rovers over there checking it out.
If it was something of interest, it would be quite a find and well worth the trip.
But.... since they haven;t done so, must mean they mean they have serious doubts.

One problem is perspective. You are only seeing 2D, so from another view it may just look like a regular rock. For example, here's some 3D sidewalk art from the proper angle that makes it look cool:
