Compromise on the big issues is what destroyed the republican party.
It’s one thing to compromise when your back is against the wall but the Republicans have been acting like moderate democrats on their on free will for quite a long time and your attitude serves as an enabling force.
And you my FRiend, don't think that our backs are against the wall with the looming possibility of a Clinton or Obama win?!?!?!?!?
I’m a momentarily distraught Fred Thompson supporter who will likely move to Romney. Whatever is said against him and Giuliani, one has to keep geopolitics in mind. NY and MA are not AL and MS. My favorite sitting senator is Sessions of AL, but he would never be elected in the northeast, so he would have absolutely no impact in those areas.
Instead of focusing on what happened that we don’t like in MA on Romney’s watch, given the locale, I would like to know what he prevented or ameliorated. Neither Romney nor (to be fair) many in the Dem controlled legislature wanted to authorize same sex marriage; they followed an order of the MA Supreme Court to implement a policy legalizing it. Similarly, the state’s mandated health program was going to include tax-payer funded or subsidized abortion. Might the program have had a more liberal leaning had a Dem sat in the governor’s seat? Could it be that Romney tampered down what might have gone into effect with Patrick?
