Carl Cameron says it'll become offical sometime later this week.

Oh well, we're doomed. Let's hope it'll be minimal damage until 2012.

Seems an unthinkable risk to me!

It is. It is going all-in.

Unfortunately, It appears the lack of risk will get us eventually to the same place the worst case will otherwise.

That’s unfair wrt Rush. I seem to recall the FredHeads gleeful that Rush pointed out how Fred was the only conservative-sounding candidate in the last November debate.

Weakly standard has been in the tank for McCain. Most of the MSM have been Rudy/McCain organs. Then the libs ‘discovered’ Huckster and went ape over him (eg Dick Morris). Conservative media is less important than MSM. And MSM is less important than campaigns.
Fred’s wounds were largely self-inflicted, due to a campaign that never got itself together properly.

the silence over Hunter is disturbing, but Hunter was one of 9 candidates. Not sure they owed Hunter more than they gave Tancredo, Gilmore, Brownback, Romney, etc. which was not much

again, as someone who felt that way about Hunter, had Hunter demonstrated in some way that he truly was capable of winning, he would have received the cash necessary yahda yada. you are letting him off the hook and it’s just WRONG. you could have the best product in the world since sliced bread and if it isn’t promoted properly it will go nowhere. you can’t BLAME the consumers for not buying the product, you blame the sales team for their woefully inadequate promotion of that product. Now, i am with you as far as demanding an explanation from Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham, Rush, Hannity etc. because they truly WERE in a position to do more for the promotion of these candidates, but they did not. i feel no culpability for not sending any $ to Hunter, because i knew he wasn’t going anywhere, and he did nothing to dissuade me from that opinion.

If McCain is the nominee, I will hold my nose and vote for him. Rudy or Ronnie? Nuh uh. (But neither of them looks to have a chance.)

"Hunter Duncan" wasn't in it to win?

He wasn't even trying.

We’re screwed in 08, and the number of real conservatives in the GOP is diminishing. It’s only going to get worse. If it weren’t for the fact that I’m stuck in college, I might just move to Australia and live in the outback with the kangaroos.

I’m a momentarily distraught Fred Thompson supporter who will likely move to Romney. Whatever is said against him and Giuliani, one has to keep geopolitics in mind. NY and MA are not AL and MS. My favorite sitting senator is Sessions of AL, but he would never be elected in the northeast, so he would have absolutely no impact in those areas.

Instead of focusing on what happened that we don’t like in MA on Romney’s watch, given the locale, I would like to know what he prevented or ameliorated. Neither Romney nor (to be fair) many in the Dem controlled legislature wanted to authorize same sex marriage; they followed an order of the MA Supreme Court to implement a policy legalizing it. Similarly, the state’s mandated health program was going to include tax-payer funded or subsidized abortion. Might the program have had a more liberal leaning had a Dem sat in the governor’s seat? Could it be that Romney tampered down what might have gone into effect with Patrick?

McCain is famous for:

-McCain/Feingold
-Shamnesty
-Against Bush tax cuts

At this point, voting for Romney is a no-brainer. Unless, of course, some of the people here are lids (liberals in disguise.)

Nobody owes Hunter $100 bucks, it’s his job to persuade them to hand it over.

And it’s not the media’s job to cover everyone who declares themselves a candidate. It’s the candidate’s job to attract enough of a groundswell that the media have to cover him.

Rush’s show is not a public service for conservatives, it’s his livelihood which means ratings.

Now if Hunter, or Thompson, had lost a la Gore in 2000, by the slimmest of margins, you and I might have a right to complain. But they didn’t even come close. That tells me even without all the adversity you mentioned, the final result would not have been different.

You cannot sell without large sums of money. Therefore, it is up to those who know the stakes to do what they can to make it happen. Hunter’s product was a solid as the Rock of Gilbraltor and has been for 3 decades. He needed investors to help bring it to market. Most investors took a pass, bringing to fruition a self fulfilling prophecy.

Which bandwagon would that be?
The McCain, Romney, Guiliani, Huckabee here’s-your-lousy-democrat-lite-choices-so-shutup-and-pick-one bandwagon? No thanks. I got off of that bandwagon 14 years ago and have no intentions of going back.

What ultimately will happen is I’ll end up writing in Duncan Hunter. I WILL NOT VOTE FOR A LIBERAL OF ANY STRIPE.

Winning with a Rino now will just delay the much needed rebuilding of the GOP for another 4-6 years.
The grassroots must take the party back to where it should be.

Sorry, but you're wrong. Yes, it is the role of the media to report on ALL the candidates, especially if they've already served in a federal elected office or as a governor.

Good grief. Who said anything about owing anybody. Spend your money on a bag a pot for all I care.

It is the CONSERVATIVE MEDIA’S self proclaimed job to spread and promote conservatism. Not RINOism. That is David Brooks and Michael Medved’s job.

agreed. but what was it about HIM that kept investors from ponying up. it’s the candidate’s job to ATTRACT the cash. sitting around being the rock of Gibraltar conservative is NOT enough.

“conservatives went to Romney and Huck”

That was their first mistake. Neither man is a conservative.

A “conversion of convenience” means he has not really come to the right side.

Again, it’s not for you - or anyone- to say what his motivation is or was to finally come around to the only correct point of view. Be dubious? Sure. Keep his
feet to the fire? Absolutely! Given what’s left in the GOP field I think it comes down to having to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Agree 100%.

It’s time for them to go.
