I beg your pardon sonny, I do the pay roll and the employee pays half of the payroll tax the company pays the other half. Check your numbers. Now if you’re self employed and enter into the SS system, THEN you are accountable for the FULL 15% of your payment into SS and MC. It’s garbage like that that really bugs me.
What I meant was that in ECONOMIC terms, the employee pays both parts. If you are an employer, you pay 10 an hour for a guy who can do stuff worth 10.01 (example). You can't pay 10 PLUS the 75 cents of SS and keep the employee. Thus, you actually pay him less, meaning the BURDEN of the tax falls on him. Every conservative economist has been saying this since 1938, and the dems always poo-poohed it -- until now that it serves their purposes.
