In other words...it is winter. Again.
Happens every January.
Not sure why it makes the news every January tho.
Fear-monguering 101: The news media shall reveal extreme weather conditions as though they’d never been thought possible before.
Ain't seen nothing yet - wait until those infamous two weeks of Feb - REALLY bitter cold and it's also the "Snow Month" or, as called by the Indians of yesteryear: the "Moon when the trees crack because of the cold." (Moon of the Snapping Trees",) and "SHOULDER TO SHOULDER AROUND THE FIRE MOON"
I just keep saying: "It's getting closer to "The Melting Moon"(April) also called - "Frog Moon".
I know winter's back is finally broken when I hear the first wood frogs 'clackering' from the nearby bog...and a couple weeks later, my favorite of all - the Spring Peepers. Nothing beats drifting off to sleep with the Peeper Symphony wafting through the window - A reminder, every spring, of "Oh yeah, this is why I live in Maine."
And from there on, each day brings another reminder - and appreciation. (Rewards for putting up with winter)
