North of Bangor it registered -18 this morning. Sun came out, squirrel came to eat, turkeys came to scrounge. Life goes on. Good thing this snow doesn’t drift and good thing not much wind this morning. Life is good.

Now live a bit south of Bangor - but grew up north of there - with grandparents - Grampa a Maine Guide...wonderful childhood on a little farm deep in the woods = no electricity = (no electric bill, no oil bill, no water bill, no garbage fee, no mortgage (farmhouse built about 1848 by great grandfather - produced 95% of food, traded butter, etc, for dry goods. )
Hard work? Yes. But more free time than folk have today working to pay for all the things we produced ourselves. And the best part: We owned our lives and the hours of our days.
